BMI works on average weights for average heights and doesn’t take into the wider context of whether weight is lean mass (also known as muscle mass) or fat tissues.
So, it can be less accurate for certain individuals such as those who are very athletic with high muscle mass, shorter or taller than average heighs, pregnant women or older individuals.
